Le-La-La Canoe Adventures

Le-La-La Canoe Adventures featuring a 42 foot cedar dug-out canoe.

First Nations guides interpret their culture on a 2-hour paddling adventure.

Departures at 9 a.m, 11 a.m. and evening sunset paddles.

Experience the power and magic of these authentic War Canoes!

Le-La-La Canoe Adventures offers Cultural Paddling Tours with the "Yagana'wala", a 42-foot cedar dug-out canoe. This amazing canoe was carved from a single cedar log by master-carver Al West of Alert Bay. The 78 year-old artisan says that " This may be my last canoe", hinting towards the tremendous effort and physical demands required to carve the giant traditional canoe.

We leave Victoria and drive to 20 minutes north of Victoria to the seaside town of Brentwood Bay. Here we are greeted by our native guides and our paddling adventure begins. Custom tours can be arranged for large groups.

The "Yagana'wala" can seat 12 paddlers comfortably with 2 native paddlers guiding the way. Le-La-La Canoe Adventures also has a second canoe that seats 9 more paddlers. This allows for larger corporate groups and large families of up to 21 people. This is a unique opportunity to experience a real cedar dug-out canoe carved in a style used for over 1,000 years. These are some of the largest canoes in the world!

Our lead guide wears the regalia and cedar headdress of the areas First Nations. He/She is well-versed in the legends and songs that are explained and practiced throughout the journey.

The thrill of paddling a canoe this large creates a lasting memory.
